Dr Kgosi’s warning after Mashatile’s collapse

“Listen to your body, say no to schedules that are harmful to oneself.”

This is the advice Dr Kgosi Letlape is giving following the collapse of Deputy President Paul Mashatile at the Nwamitwa Day event on Saturday, 14 September.

Dr Kgosi, the former president of the Health Professionals Council of South Africa, went on to say that taking care of ourselves is a personal responsibility.

“None of us are robots, let’s not overload ourselves. We come first.”
Dr Kgosi, who left the ANC for ActionSA, said he understood the workload that public figures experience, but taking care of themselves is in their hands.
His advice was not only directed to the Deputy President but to the nation as well.

Mashatile collapsed after what was initially believed to be dehydration. However, the Deputy President has on Sunday, 15 September, come forward to clear the air around his health.
He said he hasn’t been feeling well since Thursday, 12 September and suspected food poisoning.

Yesterday, Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba said the dehydration was a result of the high temperatures experienced in Tzaneen on Saturday. Weather services reported that the temperature in Tzaneen reached as high as 37 degrees.
